Leadership Group Values
WHAT DO WE VALUE?
The LCSDP Leadership Group participants share the following Values:
- Recognising and respecting the natural and cultural significance of the Budj Bim National Heritage Landscape;
- Protecting, preserving and enhancing the ecology and biodiversity of the Budj Bim National Heritage Landscape and the region;
- Acknowledging and learning from the historical experiences and events that shaped the economic, social, cultural and environmental fabric of the region;
- Tangible and practical application of the principles of sustainable development to projects at a local community level;
- Building and maintaining positive relationships, cooperation and engagement between indigenous and non-indigenous people in the region;
- Ensuring the sustainable economic prosperity and social wellbeing of all communities in the region;
- Building a common future that is inclusive of all communities in the region; and
- Sharing research and learning from our experiences in practically applying sustainable development principles.
WHY ARE WE COMMITTED TO THE VALUES?
Observing and applying the Values will contribute to:
- The development of more environmentally regenerative and culturally sensitive approaches to the management of the Budj Bim National Heritage Landscape resource base;
- A greater understanding, empathy and connectedness between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in the region;
- Thriving and prosperous communities, that provide opportunities for all citizens to realise their full potential, economically, socially and culturally;
- Inclusive, transparent and equitable governance systems that provide a positive example for future generations; and
- Increasing the knowledge base about the practical application of sustainability principles in our region and beyond.
We believe that these shared Values apply to and are for the benefit of our current and future generations. The Values underpin all of the projects contained in the LCSDP
Master Plan and we are committed to actively implementing them in all activities and projects undertaken as part of the LCSDP.
